Privacy policy

The payroll figures you type into the calculator are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to us. We use analytics to see which pages are visited. If you submit the quote form, we pass what you entered to one matched provider, and only because you ticked a box saying we could.

Headcount, payroll and state selections are held in your browser’s memory and, if you use the share link, encoded into the URL in your address bar. None of it is transmitted to our servers, because there is no server-side calculation — the entire rules engine ships to your browser and runs there.

If you copy a share link, the payroll figures are in that URL. Anyone you send it to can see them. That is the trade-off for shareable results; be deliberate about who you send it to.

• Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records page views, approximate location at country or region level, device type and referring site. It is configured with IP anonymisation. We use it to decide what to write next.
• Search Console. Google Search Console shows which queries this site appears for. It reports aggregate data only and identifies nobody.
• Quote form submissions. If you submit the form: company name, work email, employee count, the states from your calculation, and the fact that you consented. Nothing else, and nothing is pre-filled from your calculation without you seeing it.
• Server logs. Our host records standard request logs including IP address, for security and abuse prevention. These rotate on the host’s schedule.

We do not run accounts, so there are no passwords. We do not require an email address to use the calculator. We do not sell or rent personal information to data brokers. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves, and we do not fingerprint devices.

The quote form exists to connect employers with payroll providers and benefits brokers, and those providers pay us for the introduction. That is the commercial arrangement, stated plainly.

We share your submission with one matched provider, who contacts you directly. We do not distribute it to a panel of buyers. We do not share it if you did not tick the consent box, and the box is never pre-ticked. You can have the record deleted at any time by emailing info@treesera.com, and we will also tell you which provider received it.

This site carries display advertising. Ad networks may set cookies and use them to show you relevant advertising, including based on your visits to other sites. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookie is set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.

Ad slots are reserved at fixed heights whether or not an ad loads, so blocking ads does not break the layout.

California (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we have collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information as the CCPA defines it. Passing a quote-form submission to one provider at your explicit request is a disclosure you initiated, but you may still opt out of it, and you may exercise any of these rights by emailing us. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

EU and UK (GDPR). You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Our lawful basis for analytics is legitimate interest, and for the quote form it is your consent.

Quote-form submissions are kept for 24 months, then deleted. Analytics data follows Google’s configured retention period. Calculator inputs are not retained at all, because they are never received.

This is a tool for payroll and HR professionals. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top changes and the change is described here. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
